MX Record
Under what circumstances is MX record needed?
[If you need to set mailbox to receive email, the MX record is needed.]
How to add MX record?
- A. In the host record field, please add sub domain name. (Normally, if you want to set up a mailbox like xxx.@123.com, host record field should be empty; if host record field is entered mail, the email address will become xxx@mail.123.com.)
- B. Type of record is MX.
- C. Type of line (It is necessary to choose acquiescence. Otherwise some users cannot resolve and receive email; generally, MX record does not need intelligent resolution, so please choose acquiescence.)
- D. The value of record can be a domain name or IP address.
If it is a domain name, the directing domain name must have A record. (As the picture shown) After the record has created, it will input “.” behind the domain name automatically. This is a normal phenomenon.
If it is an IP address, you should enter email server IP, and after the record has created, it will input “.” behind the domain name automatically. - E. The smaller the value of MX priority, the higher the priority level is. (as the picture shown, email will be sent to 1.1.1.1 which the MX priority is 5 firstly. If it failed, email then will be sent to mail.123.com, the MX priority 10).
- F. Do not need to enter TTL because the system will generate it automatically. 600 seconds is default.
(TTL is cache time. The smaller the number is, the faster the modified record goes into effect.)
