Documentation DNS CNAME Record

CNAME Record

Under what circumstances is CNAME record needed?

[If one domain name directs to another which can provide IP address, CNAME record is needed.]
CDN and enterprise post offices are most likely to use CNAME record.

How to add CNAME record?

  • A. In the host record field, please add sub domain name. (For example, if you want to resolve www.123.com, you should enter www in the host record field; if you want to resolve 123.com, please keep the field empty, and the system will add @ in the field. But it may do harm to MX record’s resolution, so please think twice before you add it.)
  • B. Type of record is CNAME.
  • C. Type of line (It is necessary to choose acquiescence. Otherwise some users cannot resolve; as the picture shown, the function of choosing acquiescence is, except China Unicom users, all users’ resolution will direct to 1.com)
  • D. The value of record is domain name directed by CNAME. Please enter domain name only. After the record has created, it will input "." Behind the domain name automatically. This is a normal phenomenon.
  • E. MX priority is unnecessary.Different records play different roles
  • F. Do not need to enter TTL because the system will generate it automatically. 600 seconds is default. (TTL is cache time. The smaller the number is, the faster the modified record goes into effect.)
