What information do we need to provide the Service?

We collect information regarding your use of our Service and your interactions with us. We hold personal information that you provide to us to set up and manage your account and the Service, and personal information generated in connection with your use of the Service (“Administrative Information”). We are the data controller of Administrative Information. This Privacy Policy informs you of your choices and our practices regarding your Administrative Information.

To the extent any personal information is processed using the Service that you are the controller of, the Tencent Cloud data privacy and security agreement shall apply.

1. The Types of Personal Information We Use

The following is a high-level summary of the types of personal information we use:

  • Information you give us: You may give us information about you by making an enquiry about our Service, using our Service or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you register for our Service (or for a business customer, act as the company's business representative to register for the Service), such as your name, username, email address, credit card information, telephone number and other information that helps us register you to use our Service. We also collect and store your information each time you interact with us, for example, when you communicate with us by email or complete forms on our website. We also store information about the purchase information for the Service.

  • Information about you generated as part of the Service: We automatically collect certain information from you when you use our Service, including IP address, device information and activity information.

  • Information that we obtain from a third party: We allow administrators of the user account to determine access rights. In doing so, the administrator of an account can include the email addresses of other persons who are to be given access to the Service. If you are the administrator of the account, you acknowledge and undertake to us that you have the consent of the individual concerned to provide their email address for this purpose.

2. Cookies

We use cookies and other similar technologies (e.g. web beacons, log files, scripts and eTags) (“Cookies”) to enhance your experience using the Service. Cookies are small files which, when placed on your device, enable us to provide certain features and functionality.

3. Children

Our Service is not intended for children. Children must not use the Service for any purpose. We will not knowingly allow any children to register for our Service and/or provide any personal identification information. If you are under 16 (or the relevant minimum age with capacity to lawfully consent to processing in your jurisdiction, if higher), please do not sign up to use our Service or provide any information about yourself through the Service.

4. How We Use Your Personal Information

  • Payment and Transaction Data: If you conduct any purchases on the Service, the purchases will be processed using your Tencent Cloud payment option(s).   • Enquiry Data: If you have any inquiries, you may submit them to Tencent Cloud via website contact forms or as part of sales enquiries. For information about how your enquiry data will be processed by Tencent Cloud, please see the Tencent Cloud privacy policy available here.

  • Resolution Request Log: We use request time, request source and return value to identify system issues and for statistics and analysis. We process this information as it is necessary for us to perform our contract with you to provide and support the Service.

  • Operation Log of domain name(s) you operate: We use operation time, operation user UIN, operation client IP (the device address generated when you use the Service), changed business data (e.g when you add a new domain or add a particular function) and API source information to facilitate operation of the Service. We process this information as it is necessary for us to perform our contract with you to provide and support the Service.

5. How We Store and Share Your Personal Information

To the extent data is transferred outside of the EEA or UK for processing, including to third parties, (for example, to Mainland China), we rely on the European Commission's model contracts for the transfer of personal data to third countries (i.e., the standard contractual clauses), pursuant to Decision 2001/497/EC (in the case of transfers to a controller) and Decision 2004/915/EC (in the case of transfers to a processor).

No matter where our servers are located, we take appropriate measures to safeguard your rights in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Our servers for the Service are located in Singapore.

In addition, your information can be accessed from outside of where you live by our support, engineering and other teams around the world, including the PRC.

Only where necessary will we share your personal information with third parties. Situations where this occur are:

  • Third parties support certain functions available in Tencent Cloud. You can see more information about these functions and those third parties here. All companies providing services for us are prohibited from retaining, using, or disclosing your personal information for any purpose other than providing us with their services.

  • Companies within our corporate group who process your personal information in order to operate the Service. All related group companies may only use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

  • Regulators, judicial authorities and law enforcement agencies, and other third parties for safety, security, or compliance with the law. There are circumstances in which we are legally required to, or we have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to, disclose information about you to authorities, such as to comply with a legal obligation, process or request, enforce our terms, address issues relating to security or fraud, or protect our users. These disclosures may be made with or without your consent, and with or without notice, in compliance with the terms of valid legal process such as a subpoena, court order, or search warrant. We are usually prohibited from notifying you of any such disclosures by the terms of the legal process. We may seek your consent to disclose information in response to a governmental entity’s request when that governmental entity has not provided the required subpoena, court order, or search warrant. We may also disclose your information to:

  • enforce our terms and conditions and other agreements, including investigation of any potential violation thereof;

  • detect, prevent or otherwise address security, fraud or technical issues; or

  • protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users, a third party or the public as required or permitted by law (exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction).

  • A third party that acquires all or substantially all of us or our business. We may also disclose your information to third parties if we either: (a) sell, transfer, merge, consolidate or re-organise any part(s) of our business, or merge with, acquire or form a joint venture with, any other business, in which case we may disclose your data to any prospective buyer, new owner, or other third party involved in such change to our business; or (b) sell or transfer any of our assets, in which case the information we hold about you may be sold as part of those assets and may be transferred to any prospective buyer, new owner, or other third party involved in such sale or transfer.

6. Third Party Links and Services

Tencent may provide links to other third party websites as a convenience to you (collectively, the "Third Party Websites"). Please exercise care when visiting any Third Party Websites. The Third Party Websites have separate and independent privacy policies, notices and terms of use which govern your use of such websites and their use of any information they collect. We recommend you read these policies carefully. Tencent disclaims all liability for personal information you provide to any Third Party Websites.

7. The Security of Your Personal Information

We are committed to maintaining the privacy and integrity of your personal information no matter where it is stored. We have information security and access policies that limit access to our systems and technology, and we protect data through the use of technological protection measures.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will implement and maintain reasonable measures to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of the information transmitted through the Service or otherwise via the Internet; any transmission is at your own risk.

8. Data Retention

  • We do not keep your data for longer than is necessary. We will retain your personal information as described below (except if otherwise required to be retained by applicable law).

If we are required to retain your information beyond the retention periods set out above, for example to comply with applicable laws, we will store it separately from other types of personal information.

10. Announcements

We may from time to time send you service-related announcements when we consider it necessary to do so (for example, when we temporarily suspend access to the Service for maintenance, or security, privacy or administrative-related communications). You may not opt-out of these service-related announcements, which are not promotional in nature.
